| About 1.2 billion people in the world live without access to safe
drinking water. If action is not taken now, 135 million people could
die of water-related diseases by the year 2020. Furthermore, without
proper sanitation and clean
water, a community's health, education, agriculture, and economy all
suffer. Water is essential to life in more ways than one.
During the 40 days of Lent, Project440 will endeavor to raise enough money to build four wells capable of providing fresh water for 1,000 people daily.
As a group, the nine of us below are
ready to match our friends' and families' contributions, dollar for
dollar, up to $16,700. Your money, when combined with ours, will be
given to World Vision and then matched again by a private foundation.
In the end, your contribution will be quadrupled and our goal is to
provide World Vision the resources to build four critically-needed
wells.
